HLAA Chapters in Wisconsin

 

There are 6 organized HLAA chapters in the state of Wisconsin. Chapters determine their own meeting times based on the consensus of the chapter's members. All meetings are open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hearing loss, hearing aids, other assistive technology, coping strategies, etc. These consumer based chapters are organized and run by and for people who are hard of hearing.

 

Fox Valley Regional Chapter - Meets on the 2nd Monday of each month from April - December at the Unitarian Fellowship in Appleton.  The meeting room has an audioloop, and an FM system. All meetings are captioned. Meetings start at 6:30 PM. Each includes social time, a brief business meeting, and an educational program. Northwoods Chapter - Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from March through November at 1:00 PM at the Ascenion Lutheran Church in Minocqua. This chapter uses a self help discussion format, and brings in speakers on a variety of hearing loss issues. Milwaukee/Racine Chapter - Meets at 6:30 PM on the 1st Thursday of each month, at the Center for Deaf & Hard of Hearing, 10243 National Ave., West Allis. Contacts: Jean  szaboshhh@yahoo.com & Carolyn: carolineludka@yahoo.com  Chapter meetings include social time, a brief business meeting, and an educational program each month. The meeting room has an audioloop, and captioning is provided for each meeting.

 

Western Wisconsin Chapter - Meets on the 4th Monday of each month from March - November at the Independent Living Center in Menomonie. Contact: Brenda: bjoyhlaa@charter.net or call the ILC at 1-715-233-1070 for information.

 

Waukesha Chapter - Contact: Ann:  a.gazinski@worldnet.att.net for information.

 

Lakes Country Chapter - Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Community Center, 216 South St., in Wales. Contact: Tami: tam59@wi.rr.com  Meetings are captioned.

 

Madison Area - There is a small group of people interested in forming a new chapter in the Madison area. If you would like to help reestablish a chapter in this area, please contact any one of the state leaders, or e-mail Julie Olson:  julieo@athenet.net
