Jean Szabo & Caroline Ludka received recognition from their fellow board members for the dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work that went into co-chairing the first Wisconsin Walk4Hearing in May 2010. Along with a very small nucleus of people, Jean and Caroline followed all the recommendations of HLAA’s national walk coordinator, Ronni Adler. The Walk generated over $50,000 that will support several organizations whose missions relate to hearing loss.
This award was established by WI-SHHH several years ago when the Board recognized Julie Olson for her dedication to the organization’s mission. The award has since been called The Julie Olson Humanitarian Award. Past recipients besides Julie, include Wendy Wolfgram, Carol Burns, & Brenda Arndt.
Congratulations to Jean & Caroline for all their hard work & dedication to HLAA.

Julie Olson Humanitarian Award 2011
Juliette Sterkens and LeRoy 'Max' Maxfield are the recipients of the 2001 Award.
This award is given in recognition of an HLAA member’s dedication to go above and beyond expectations in their efforts to make the State of Wisconsin a better place for hard of hearing people.
Max has used his professional expertise to learn to build and install hearing loops.
Juliette's enthusiasm for promoting hearing loops is contagious. Together, their zeal for promoting hearing loops has inspired other hearing healthcare professionals to followtheir lead, and has, in turn, motivated her to include and educate about telecoil technology in the hearing instruments she sells.
Many hard of hearing people in Wisconsin who use hearing aids are enjoying life much more than they did before, because oftheir efforts.
It is with gratitude that the HLAA-Wisconsin Board of Trustees Juliette and Max in 2012. Thank you from all of the HLAA members in Wisconsin and elsewhere who are beneficiaries of your efforts.
Juliette Sterkens AuD & and LeRoy 'Max' Maxfield.
